This easy recipe makes 4 microwave mug cakes or one bigger cake in the Tupperware MicroCook Pitcher. Also included is a DIY ready cake mix you can store for whipping up a quick treat in a flash.

  • 120g dark chocolate (or for sweeter option use milk chocolate)

  • 35g butter

  • 3 medium-sized eggs

  • 35g sugar

  • 70g chocolate hazelnut spread

  • 35g almond meal

  • Pinch salt

  • 30g plain flour

  • 1⁄2 tsp baking powder

  • Break the chocolate into pieces and divide the butter into 2 – 3 pieces.
  • Place both in the MicroCook Pitcher 1L, cover and microwave for 1 minute and 600 watts. Stir until melted.
  • Add the remaining ingredients one by one while stirring well to obtain a consistent texture.
  • Use the TupperChef Spatula Medium to remove any excess dough from around the inside of the Pitcher.
  • MicroCook Pitcher option: Set the cover to the wide opening and microwave for 5 minutes at 600 watts.
  • Mug Option: Line 4 shallow coffee mugs with butter or preferably baking paper as an easy way to remove the microwave mug cakes. Fill 1/3 of the mug with the mixture, place a chunk of chocolate in the centre or jam for a gooey centre, then pour in another 1/3.
Leave a 1/3 space for the mixture to rise while cooking or for topping with cream/yoghurt.
Microwave all 4 together for 6 to 8 minutes. Cooking time will vary as different cups absorb microwaves at different rates. Our mini micro cook jugs can cook cakes in 3 minutes.
  • Allow to stand for 5 minutes and use the Spatula to unmold easily.

  • Ready to make cake mix to serve 5 persons:
  • 8 cups self-raising flour (or 1kg)
  • 2 cups cornflour (or 240g)
  • 6 cups caster sugar (or 1.4kg)
  • Preparation Time: 10 mins
  • Store in Modular Mates for ready use. Be sure to shake the container before use as the baking powder will sink to the bottom.
  • Add vanilla, or other flavours – even apple or berries for different flavours.
