Crispy Keto Fries, Garlic Or Chick’n Chips

From appearance to texture, to taste, these crispy keto fries are the closest thing to traditional fries you find at a fast-food joint. Just because you choose to live a low-carb lifestyle doesn’t mean you have to give up on your favourite dishes. These keto fries really are the closest thing you will get to actual french fries, but without all the carbs. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Your plate will not only be indistinguishable from the filled Carbs fast-food chains but after a few bites, nobody will ever realize those are not real potato french fries.  Extra Crunchy and Crispy Keto Fries, which are unrecognizable from the real potato fries are finally here!

The fact is that even real French fries, made with potatoes, are extremely difficult to make properly. Cut, rinsed, soaked, rinsed again, poached, chilled, and (finally) fried. Mess up any one of those steps and you’re likely to end up with soggy or gummy or burnt fries.

The struggle with most keto french fries is how difficult it is to make them actually crispy. There are reasons why common replacements such as zucchini, jicama, and rutabaga have fewer carbs than potatoes. They’ve got a heck of a lot less starch, and a heck of a lot more water, all of which makes frying a dicey proposition.

This keto French fries recipe is made using almond flour.

These remarkable crispy keto fries have only a few ingredients: almond flour, coconut flour and xanthan gum. Oh, and hot water. Using a KP Spatula mix it together in the Microcook Pitcher Microwave Jug 1L. That’s it. You mix a simple dough, roll it out, and slice it into fry-shaped sticks. Fry them up and you’re good to go

Almond flour is lower in carbs and has a fine texture and delicate crumb so when this dough is fried or baked, the texture is similar to the inside of soft potato, yet the outside is golden and crispy.

Extra Crunchy and Crispy Keto French Fries. Indistinguishable from real potato Fries. This is a non-vegetable based Low Carb, Gluten-Free, Keto Side Dish. Optional chicken, garlic butter or lemon pepper flavour.

  • 1 cup (100 grams), Almond Flour

  • 1/2 Cup (50 grams), Coconut Flour

  • 6 teaspoons (20 grams), Xanthan Gum

  • 1 Cup (210 mls) boiling water

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Sprinkle of chicken stock powder (optional)

  • Set aside all of your ingredients so they are handy to reach. Have a jug of boiling water on the side ready to go.
  • In a bowl or a mixing jug like our Microcook Pitcher, place all of the dry ingredients in and mix until fully combined.
  • Once all of the ingredients are fully combined so all lumps are removed, add the hot water.
  • Using a spatula, mix all of the dry ingredients together with the boiling water until a smooth dough combines into a ball.
  • Once everything is combined, place the dough onto a silicone baking sheet or baking paper and work it out as you would pastry.
  • Allow the dough to rest for approx 30 minutes.
  • Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a rectangular shape, approximately a cm inch thick, or whatever thickness fry you want.
  • Now divide the dough in half and then cut into really thin slices like french fries.
  • When all of the dough is cut into fries, place them one by one into a pan of oil. Or oven bake fries with a generous coating of oil or garlic/chicken butter at 200C until brown. Air fryers only need about 6 minutes.
  • Fry at a low to medium heat slowly turning the fries to cook all sides evenly.
  • After all of the keto french fries are brown and crispy, season with chicken stock, lemon pepper, garlic butter or salt and pepper.
  • Place them one by one onto a plate lined with a paper towel.
